Who We Are




YWCA Mohawk Valley is a nonsectarian membership organization founded in 1885 and incorporated in 1904. In 2016, we affected and helped more than 26,000 lives in the Mohawk Valley region through our life-saving services, support systems, and education programs. We provide our programs to all people working and living throughout both Herkimer and Oneida Counties.

Our life-changing and New York State certified programs and services include:

  • Domestic and sexual violence crisis services
  • Emergency and transitional housing for domestic violence survivors
  • Transitional housing support for homeless domestic violence survivors 18 and older
  • Residential services for adults and children
  • Violence prevention education
  • Community outreach
  • Support groups
  • One-on-One counseling services

 

We are:

  • The only provider of domestic and sexual violence crisis services in Oneida County.
  • The only provider of residential services to non-parenting homeless young women within a 50-mile radius of Utica, NY.
  • The only provider of transitional housing for homeless survivors of domestic violence in a five-county region of New York State.
  • The only organization that provides prevention education regarding child sexual abuse, dating violence, domestic violence, sexual harassment, and sexual assault in both Herkimer and Oneida counties.
  • The provider of sexual violence crisis services in Herkimer County.
